School starts! October 30, 2009

Well,as much as school have just started,work is already starting to pile up! But,I really enjoy the modules I’m taking this semester,they might be tough,umm,actually they are very tough,but it’s really interesting to study! Apart from mundane school work that never seem to end,I still manage to get sometime off to give myself a little treat to movies!

I went to catch the highly anticipated SISTER’S KEEPER!  This movie talks about this girl named Kate suffering from cancer,and her parents conceived another child,Anna,genetically altered to create spare body parts for her sister Kate. To me,it’s just a so-so movie,certain parts of the movie are quite touching,but I didn’t really like it. I did hear quite a few sobbing sounds around the cinema. But,I still don’t think it’s that good. Maybe I was expecting too much after hearing lots of positive comments.

Yeah,500 days of summer. Thumbs up! I really like this movie,so do Janice who watched the movie with me! The title says it all,this movie basically talks about this particular 500 days of his life when he meet this girl,shown in the picture. The movie is made in a way they screen it day by day,however not in chronological order from 1 to 500,but it jumps around from 10 – 30 days, 1 – 7 days etc. Many say this idea is very annoying and confusing,they should just show it in chronological order,but personally I actually like the way they made the movie.They made very good comparison between the different periods of the relationship he go through.All in all,I really like this show!

Ta-dah! I meet up with Jasmine jie,long long lost sissy! I’m so thankful we manage to keep in contact even after you graduated years ago. Heee,shouldn’t mentioned how many years k! haha. It actually feel quite different when we meet up,the last time we meet up was when I was in secondary 1,the things we talk about and stuffs are so different now. We all grown up,oh,maybe it’s me being too childish back then. haha, Nonetheless,I really appreciate the time we spend together,despite it being short,I’m still glad we meet up. Thanks jie~

We had ding tai feng for dinner. Finally tried the xiao long bao everybody have been raving about. Umm,indeed,it’s not bad,but I dare say,it’s definitely not the best of what I’ve tasted. But for the price versus the taste,it’s quite good indeed. I had beef noodles,the soup is quite good except it’s kinda oily,but the meat is tough like volcanic rock man. lol. All in all,I guess this place is not bad luh.

Yooohooo!! It’s Janice and I with our little mousey in the animal room ! This picture is actually taken when Janice picked up the mouse for the very first time! WAY TO GO SIS! Actually can’t really see the mousey right? My phone camera quite sucks. In case you might be interested,this mouse is not our home pets,this mouse are our experimental pets we use in laboratory for testing.That would explain the gloves and the lab coat ya? They are so cute right! Yap!! They’re used in my immunology and cell culture modules.

Ta-dah! See!!! SO FUNNY! It’s my piece of art! heee,and the teacher didn’t found out about it until lesson end! haha! I took a piece of regular C fold towel found in the lab and tear our pieces of it and made this face! haha,then I put it under the OHP! Haha! We have to resort to doing this kinda things,yes it’s true,or else,everybody will be bored to death if not everybody will be alseep. I’m doing everyone a favour lah! heeeee.

Haha,this picture is taken by Hazlyn in the green house! It’s our little germinated seedlings and jingwen in the picture,lol~. The second picture shows my germinated seeds! yay! We’re just about to transplant them inside different planting system. Not so sure what it’s about yet =/. Anyway~ It’s super warm inside. We were suppose to wear lab coats also,but the weather is seriously too hot,and the green house is trapping the heat too,so,all of us will just be cooked.

CRAZY sleepover! October 27, 2009

Evon came over to my place for a CRAZY sleepover ! I can’t think of any better word to describe,just totally insane! Shanmei joined us in the night for a drink. It’s just lots of crazy things happening when all of us get together. Thank you so much for coming over to keep my company,both of you. I really appreciate both of you very much!

We had mac breakfast on the next morning. Then I realised how long since I last had mac breakfast,then Evon explained “because you never wake up early enough”,to a certain extend,actually quite true.Even if I woke up early,it’s surely rushing to school. I must say,nothing taste better than hotcakes! heee.. We got 8 monopoly stickers,from which,we got 1 instant win-APPLE PIE ! The rest were the monopoly pieces. Better than nothing lah!

We went back home and continue fooling around painting our nails,doing cucumber mask. haha. Evon warned me not to post any pictures of her on the mask,so I shall not defy or else she’ll come after me. lol.

Later,we went to look for munwah for dinner! We went to bugis for a steamboat dinner. It’s quite a nice place,opposite Parco Bugis,we had our steamboat beside a carpark,it’s quite comfortable to have steamboat outdoor.

Business talk October 22, 2009

Just a short one before I crash!

School started this week. I must say this semester is very demanding,I have 4 lab base modules (compared to previous sem 3 and in year one only 2). Well,it’s quite fun to have practicals too. One of my modules immunology,we get to work with little mice,yes little ones,only 3 weeks old,they’re super cute! Shall take a picture sometime after I’m allocated one. The past practical was just playing around with them. 

Apart from my core life science modules,I’m also taking 2 other IS (interdisciplinary studies) modules. Don’t be shock to hear this. They are FINANCE PLANNING & STARTING A BUSINESS ,yes you’re on the right channel,this is Serene’s blog. Though I can never find a link between me and business,but somehow,anyhow,yap,I’m here.

I had my first FINANCE PLANNING class this morning. I must say,it’s not as bad as I thought! I was quite overwhelmed by the business students. In the whole class,there were 4 life science students and all the rest are business students. It’s quite interesting actually,it’s quite an eye opening experience for me,umm,k lah,maybe I’ll say ear opening experience since it’s a lecture style class. Though it’s my first time attending this kinda business based lesson,I think I like it? haha. Well,I guess it’s good that I went with an open heart. The lecturer actually asked all of us about our reasons/motivations behind selecting this module,I actually daring told him “to grow money”. lol. Don’t quite sound like something that will come out of me mouth. lol. I just didn’t wanted to leave a bad impression,afterall it’s a graded module right? hehe. actually i didn’t really understood what I was saying. lol.Well,at least the teacher is happy,rather than hearing some crappy answers like “ehh,no choice loh?”.

I was kinda hungry waiting for daddy for dinner. So I decided to look for some food. I found myself an oreo muffin in the fridge! I put it into the toaster to heat it up. Then I went to play computer. Then I smell,how come I smell something bad? I ran to the kitchen! TOO LATE! MY MUFFIN CAUGHT FIRE! My muffin actually got burnt to the extend it caught fire! lol. So,please don’t do this!  

Gotta go get my plants report done asap! ciao!

Deep thoughts October 10, 2009

After dinner nearby church with Jessica and gang after cell,Mat suggested to chill around at the playground nearby. Suddenly I realise,as people grow older,our interest changes. When I’m much younger,I would very much prefer to walk around malls,visit toy shops,visit candy shops,stand in front of the chocolate counter in the supermarket and never want to leave until I’m allowed to get something. I used to always like to work with a timetable,from what time to what time,go where,from what time to what time,eat dinner,from what time to what time go buy this and buy that etc,doing it in a very systematic way.Almost like I’m afraid to have even a single minute free without doing anything,the schedule and events must be very packed.

But now,not that I’m very old lah,just tid bit older,I would very much appreciate sometime to chill around,have some talk after food catching up with each other,sharing about my week,or even about the tv drama I’ve been following ,have nice chit chat session that can allow me to let me heart out,or to hear other people out,just talking about anything and everything under the sun,maybe just sit around play some silly games,share some silly riddles,to get to know my friends better. Even if there’s nothing to do,I still appreciate to just sit around and relax,walking around aimlessly. Maybe it’s just me? haha.

Dear Jessica,if you’re reading this,thank you so much for joining us for dinner,to fork out sometime for some chat.It’s been really long since we meet up and have a nice a good catching up session. I’m really glad to have you around today. All the best for your exams. Take care. You know you’re not alone in this.

I realise that mutual trust is very important in every aspect of life between people,regardless of whether it’s friends,colleagues,lovers,family,project partners etc. Trust doesn’t come about easily,but it goes easily. I always hear people saying,you break the trust,it’s not easy to earn it back,even if you get it back,it’s not going to be the same anymore. It’s like a broken vase,even if you fixed the broken parts,the lines will still be there,everytime you look back at it,you’ll still be reminded of the one time you broke it. Sometimes I feel,everyone deserves a second chance,if you’re not willing to open your heart to accept it,you can never see how much potential the future has to offer. The scar might always stay there,but we should really try to accept that the person who broke the vase offer to fix it,it already mean that they are willing to repent.Everyone makes mistakes,everyone deserves to be forgiven,as long as they are willing to admit and turn over a new leaf. Easier said than done of course,I personally have to agree to this. But if you never try you never know.

Sometimes people might keep something from you. Should we get angry immediately? Sometimes,they might think,it’s better for you not to know,in case you may misunderstand their intentions,you may go wild imagining nonsense,or may feel upset over it. It’s kind intentions not to make you worry about it. But you know,actually things will get worst if you keep it to yourself and avoid telling them. The fact is that,if you don’t say,they don’t know,they will surely go crazy imagining nonsense that may not even be true,which may result in misunderstands,fights,dismays,quarrels and many more undesirable consequences. Sometimes,people tend to choose to believe what they think is right to them in the first place,but actually,it’s always good to talk to someone about it,discuss about it,and see if it’s really a good way out,collect different kind of opinion. It’s always good to have some opinion from a person who is not involved. I truly believe that they’re able to see the situation clearer than you can. It may not always be the case that what you think is right is right or best to settle the problem. It’s right that we always choose to believe ourselves over anyone else because we always think that we understand the situation the best. Many times,we choose to believe what we want to believe,we choose to see what we want to see,including myself also guilty of this. I believe that we should not always do things the way we choose to do so,and always clarify first to avoid misunderstanding.

To build trust,is not about telling the person everything. It’s about not hiding anything from the person.

7 hours of cycling totally knock me out. Nonetheless,I’m so thankful to have you guys around.

This is a my bunch of keys,ok,not bunch,there’s only 2 of them. My keys are hooked on my keychain with my name on it,now I have a newly added member,the piggy!

Last Saturday,as usual,after service,I went for cell,I was suppose to be in charge that week. As usual,my sec 1 girls and I walked into the room and had cell. We were playing the ‘what if’ game. My girls really enjoyed themselves,laughing over all sorts of nonsense they wrote on the paper.I enjoyed myself very much too. It’s my joy to see them enjoy cell so much. Although I’m very much bullied all the time. lol. They said I have a good-to-bully look. Still they bring me so much joy and happiness,I really love my girls. I really look forward to cell every week,to see them and to have lesson,chit chat and laugh over silly stuffs.

As we were about to leave,Miranda suddenly said she had something for me. Then the rest told me to close my eyes and stick my hand out. They put something into my hand. When I open my eyes,I saw this piggy. She said it’s for me. At first,I didn’t really know how to react. I was really touched. It was just out of nothing,her intentions was just to thank the leaders. Thank you Miranda.

It may just be a little piggy,but it really mean a lot a lot to me. So I decided to show my appreciation by using it,so I hooked it onto my keychain since it’s something that follows where ever I go.

Then again,I thought,how come you chose a piggy for me? (Cause she bought 3 different things for 3 of the leaders) Then she said “Erm,I dunno? Just thought so.. hahahahaa”

This remind me of the secondary school days,where I’m known around as pig. Everybody calls me pig. I forgot who and how I was given this name,but somehow it just spreaded very fast,and everybody started calling me pig/xiao zhu. Haha,well,I’ll not infer anything from that! At least to make myself feel better okay? But still,just brought me back to the past of fond memories.

Retainer Horror Part II October 6, 2009

I had a dental appointment yesterday for review of my retainers,so I was wearing it. After the dental appointment,went on to meet up with dear to have dinner at KFC. Here comes the retainer horror part II.

(Retainer horror part I was when I left my retainers in a cup with some water in it while having dinner at home,daddy thought it’s a cup I used and left on the table,he apparently he went to throw the water in it away and wash up the cup,there goes,my retainer that I only wore for 1 month)

I had to remove my retainers so I can eat,because it’s a full covered plastic retainers that is transparent,not the 1 long strip of metal kinds. So after i remove my retainers,I wrapped it in tissue paper and left it at one side while I enjoy my dinner,sat around for a while,then the cleaner came to clear the tables,so we decided to leave also. AND I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT MY RETAINERS!  Yes! As usual,the cleaner thought it’s another lump of tissue paper thrown at one side of the table,so he picked it up and pack together with the rest of the stuffs and clear it into the dustbin. After walk about 20 steps out of KFC,I started clenching on my teeth,and realise my teeth were grinding against each other without anything in between,this was when I realise I forgot my retainers.

We immediately went back to KFC and look for the person who cleared the table for us to open the bin and help us find it. I’m like “Even if it takes me to dig into the bin,I gotta get it back man”,we were quite lucky,as the stuffs were just clear,it was on top,so we manage to get it without much of dirts on us. The cleaner uncle was really nice to help us find the retainers,I only expected him to direct us to the dustbin and pull up the bin box for us to look for it. The uncle was looking at the lump of tissue,then he saw my retainers then he laugh “oh,your teeth ah?” lol,I was totally embarassed “errrr ya,hahaha”.

What a lucky/unlucky day? Both lah. haha.

After so long,finally have a day with Evon! ta-dah!
 

We had our dinner at ajisen,coincidentally,we happen to meet Yicheng,Ronny and friends there too. Evon was trying out my new camera,she tested the zoom by checking out how many pimples I had on my face,argh,so irritating,and many more silly candid pictures. Had a really nice and fun day out,did a lot of catching ups. We need to meet up more often,I can’t store up too much before I can tell you all of them!haha. There’s nothing better than just chilling out and talking rubbish with you,just like what we used to do in secondary school, thinking back at those times we had in secondary school,we were so childish and silly,I’m so glad that we grew out of it and became good friends even up til now. Best pal,CHEERS!

To my dearest sister,thank you so much for always being there for me,I truly appreciate you very much  I’m really really thankful for you.  Have a great day out at suki yeah! Meet up again soon ! hehe,we’ll have it budget next time

 

Anyway,just wanna share this video I saw from ms-rach’s blog,it’s about this timid bear that  freaks out over every little thing even a shadow. At first,I thought the bear’s reaction look really cute and funny,but when I played it again,I kind of feel really sad for this bear,having to go through so many scares.

I’ve been introduced to online shopping 2 years plus ago when I was busy studying and preparing for O levels,mainly because we had to prepare for graduation night,and didn’t have time to go out to look for clothes and stuffs.Unfortunately,due to the lack of resources,still didn’t manage to get anything online. After O levels,when I was really free,I decided to check out this online shopping idea and slowly explored many forms of shopping online,up til now,I’m a big fan of online shopping. It’s not 100% safe,I have encountered frauds before. However,after exploring for sometime,you roughly get the idea how things work,you can have better gauge of where you can shop,where you can’t shop. Ever since I get hooked up with online shopping,I’ve been going out of control,so I made this promise not to shop online for the entire holiday! Up til now,it has been about 5 weeks already,I’m doing well! haha,another 2 weeks to go! I hope I don go crazy buying after 2 weeks,lol.

I shall introduce some of my favourites! So of course on the top of the list, bonitochico ! and many more.. shall blog more about them in the future when I have a chance to buy from them.

I went to catch ACCIDENT. It’s a nice movie. Shall not disclose too much,because the nice part of the whole movie is the suspense! I stared so hard into the movie screen,because I was overly engross in watching the show,I forgot to blink,I only realise when I felt that my eyes were so dry after I left the cinema.lol.It’s really nice luh.

I’m so fed up lah! On the way to the cinema,munwah was joking about buying the wrong movie ticket,picking ‘incident’ instead of ‘accident’,he said so much about it,it actually got into me lah! When I approach the counter,I really told the person ticket for ‘incident’,and I didn’t even realise until munwah started laughing. Neither did the person showed any reaction,I’m assuming that he didn’t hear me correctly.Better be! lol,so embarrassing.

Finish this post off with a great thing that happen today! My camera is back from holiday! Actually,I meant hospital. Yay! It was suppose to be ready on Friday,I was so surprise when I receive the text that my camera is ready for collection yesterday! I went to collect it today! Haha,I WILL NOT SPOILT IT ANYMORE! (if not i can buy a dslr already,lol)
